Taylor Magnuson M.A., T-LMHC
Taylor graduated with a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Iowa in 2023. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Human Relations and Rhetoric and Persuasion. Before becoming a therapist, Taylor worked in a variety of settings dedicated to improving the behavioral health of several specific populations, including Native American folks, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people who have participated in substance use treatment.
She has experience working with people of all ages and provides individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Taylor has provided therapy for people experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, and trauma. She also has experience working with transgender youth, immigrants, and those on the autism spectrum. She emphasizes a person-centered approach while also using evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients meet their therapeutic goals.
Taylor understands that vulnerability can be difficult for clients. She emphasizes creating a safe, trusting space for clients to reflect on their experiences and feelings. She recognizes that different clients may need different things from their therapeutic process, which is why she values collaborating with her clients to best meet their needs. Taylor enjoys using humor, mindfulness, and empowering those she works with through gentle challenges, all while celebrating her clients’ successes and unique strengths throughout the therapeutic journey.
